Since I hung up my corporate hat, my workwear is a bit different than it was then. Now I spend my time working from home and meeting with clients around the city and around the state. My client-facing attire needs to be professional as well properly suited for any long commutes. And, I often prefer it take me to happy hour or dinner after. This agenda means I seek out weekday looks that are fashionable, comfortable and transitional.
Black and white looks are an easy go-to for such purposes. This particular look is stylish and transitional, and all the pieces are stretchy -- so uber-comfy. For daytime, I love wearing this Elizabeth and James blazer, a critical piece in my wardrobe. It's a bit oversized and made from a sweatshirt-like material. That means it looks professionally and fashionably au courant, and it moves with my body versus confining it.
This Tibi skirt, though, is really what makes the outfit. Generally speaking, a pencil skirt is a work-wardrobe necessity, and this one gives the classic cut a playful yet sophisticated spin. It too is made from a stretchy knit that makes it flattering and easy to take from day and night. All I have to do is leave my blazer in the car, and I'm ready for that happy hour cocktail.
